چکیده

This paper describes the extension of a behaviour-based control system for autonomous outdoor navigation. To perform robust obstacle avoidance the existing stereo vision system is complemented with a 2D laser scanner. Instead of combining raw sensor data, the additional information is integrated exploiting behaviour fusion. The scanner data processing is wrapped into new behaviours, which are added to the existing network. That way no modifications to existing behaviours and interconnections are necessary. Furthermore sensors can be evaluated individually augmenting traceability and testability. The performance of the resulting system is shown in an experiment carried out on the outdoor robot RAVON.

Formal verification of safety behaviours of the outdoor robot ravon

This paper presents an approach to the formal verification of safety properties of the behaviour-based control network of the mobile outdoor robot RAVON. In particular, we consider behaviours that are used for the computation of the projected vehicle’s velocity from obstacle proximity sensor data and inclination information. We describe how this group of behaviours is implemented in the synchro...

RAVON – An autonomous Vehicle for Risky Intervention and Surveillance

This paper introduces the autonomous outdoor robot RAVON (see Figure 1) which is developed at the University of Kaiserslautern. The vehicle is used as a testbed to investigate behaviour-based strategies on motion adaptation, localisation and navigation in rough outdoor terrain. At the current stage the vehicle features collision-free autonomous navigation along way points given in GPS coordinates.

A Novel Robust Adaptive Trajectory Tracking in Robot Manipulators

In this paper, a novel adaptive sliding mode control for rigid robot manipulators is proposed. In the proposed system, since there may exist explicit unknown parameters and perturbations, a Lyapunov based approach is presented to increase system robustness, even in presence of arbitrarily large (but not infinite) discontinuous perturbations. To control and track the robot, a continuous controll...

Obstacle detection in mobile outdoor robots - a short-term memory for the mobile outdoor platform ravon

In this paper a biologically inspired approach for compensating the limited angle of vision in obstacle detection systems of mobile robots is presented. Most of the time it is not feasible to exhaustively monitor the environment of a mobile robot. In order to nonetheless achieve safe navigation obstacle detection mechanisms need to keep in mind certain aspects of the environment. In mammals thi...
